Marshmallow Root
Mallows are cited in the Bible as used in times of famine by the Egyptians. We use this herb instead of gelatine to make our own marshmallows.
Widely used for its medicinal properties as well as culinary ones, modern grocery-store marshmallows no longer use mallow root. More's the pity, because we think it's magical stuff.
