Anise

Where does this come from?

Anise imparts a liquorice-like flavor (much like fennel) to ice cream. It can be found in other foods as diverse as pizelles to root beer to Ouzo.

Biscotti just wouldn't be the same without anise, and it pairs perfectly with brown sugar and almonds.
